TWO BORDER GUARDS KILLED IN DAGESTAN

MAKHACHKALA, March 1 (RIA Novosti) - Two border guards were killed in a clash in the Tsuntinsky district of Dagestan, a republican interior ministry source told RIA Novosti.

"The bodies of two contract servicemen of the Russian FSB Border Guard Service were discovered with gunshot wounds in the mountains on the snow, five kilometers from the village of Bezhta, on Sunday at 3:30pm," said the source.

Weapons were not seized from the servicemen, he added.

The source said 100 meters from the killed border guards, a body of an unknown man in camouflage uniform was found, with a Kalashnikov assault rifle with three magazines, an F1 grenade and Wahhabite literature. The militant died of gunshot and landmine-inflicted wounds.

The circumstances and the personality of the killed fighter are being established.
