RIO DE JANEIRO, MARCH 1, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT VLADIMIR STEPANOV) - The Russian-Brazilian cooperation agreement should be specified in financial control issues, believes chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin. He heads the Audit Chamber's delegation on a visit in Brazil.

Mr. Stepashin told RIA Novosti that the visit is going on against the background of widening partner-like relations between the two countries. The Russian defense and foreign ministers visited Brazil late last year, and Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin - in February 2004.

Sergei Stepashin reported that the main aim of the Russian delegation's visit to Brazil is to become acquainted with the work of the country's financial control bodies.

The delegation is also going to visit Uruguay and Chile where agreements on cooperation with similar bodies of these countries are to be signed.
