SARATOV, February 29 (RIA Novosti corr. Alexander Lyogky) - The consequences of the accident on a gas pipeline in the Saratov region (Middle Volga area) have been eliminated, said a regional office of the emergencies ministry.
Emergency teams of the Yugtransgaz Association, who owns a 14km-long section of the gas mainline, completed the elimination of the aftermath of the gas pipeline fire and fully restored gas supply to Engels city dwellers by 5:00pm Moscow time.
At 3:55am Moscow time, as a result of destruction of a valve on gas pipeline Stepnoye-Storozhevka in the Engels district of the Saratov region, a gas emission occurred. The gas ignited. Gas supply to the city of Engels on the Volga's eastern bank with a population of over 300,000 was blocked for 14 hours.
