TEHRAN, February 29 (RIA Novosti corr. Nikolai Terekhov) - Two earthquakes occurred in Iran's southwestern provinces Ilam and Khuzestan. There are no data on the victims and destruction yet.

The Tehran University's geophysical center said Sunday that the power of underground tremors registered at 2:21am and 3:03am Moscow time near Abadanan (Ilam) and Andimeshk (Khuzestan) was 3.1 and 4.1 points on the Richter scale.

All Iranian territory is in the seismo-active area; tremors the power of 3 plus on the Richter scale are registered daily. As a result of a quake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale in Iran's southeastern city of Bam on December 26, 2003, over 40,000 people died, over 30,000 were injured and the city was practically razed to the ground.
