MOSCOW, February 28, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The international dog show "Moscow Mayor's Cup - Eurasia-2004" has opened in Moscow on Saturday.
The show is organized by the Russian Cynology Federation and the Russian Association of Zoo-culture, Veterinary and Zoo-industry.
Over 3,000 dogs of 160 breeds are to participate in the dog show.
Dachshunds will traditionally be the largest group, the organizers said.
Eighteen foreign experts from Switzerland, Finland, Belgium, Hungary and other countries will judge the dogs. The organizers believe that about 40,000 people will attend the dog show on February 28-29.
Visitors will see different contests and performances. The highlights of the show will be the contest of dogs of Russian breeds "Russia's Pride" and the contest on the most beautiful dog, who will win the Moscow Mayor's Cup.
