MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Central Election Commission enhances the measures to protect its Internet portal on the threshold of presidential elections, Viktor Yashchenko, head of the federal center for computerization under the Central Election Commission said Friday.

During the December 7 State Duma elections last year, over 900 hackers' attacks on the CEC web site were registered.

"We analyzed the attempts to hack the site and are enhancing means of its protection," Mr. Yashchenko said.

He recalled that the state automated system "Elections" is not constantly connected to the Internet. "That's why it is safely protected against attempts to attack it," Viktor Yashchenko said.
