MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - Acting vice-premier Boris Alyoshin reported to journalists in the wake of a meeting of the governmental commission on administrative reform that by April 1 the commission would submit to the Russian President its report on functions to be assigned to the state.

According to him, the commission "did not intend to change the work schedule." The next meeting will be held after March 20 and it will draft the report to the President on results of the first stage of the reform devoted to analysis of state bodies' functions to determine their excessiveness and duplication.

Boris Alyoshin indicated that presently the commission analyzed over 5,000 functions of state bodies and over 1,000 of those functions were defined as excessive.

Mr. Alyoshin stressed that the objective of the commission work was not to exclude certain functions from the state's sphere of activities. The acting vice-premier explained that "it was serious analytical work carried out to determine a list of state functions".
