BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 27. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Four Russians have reached the finals of the European boxing tournament, under way in Pula in Croatia.
In the weight category below 81 kilogrammes, Yevgeni Makarenko from Nizhnevartovsk in Siberia has held a confident win in the semifinal meet over Aleksy Kuziemski of Poland.
Also, Gennadi Kovalev /weight category up to 54 kilogrammes/, Sergei Kazakov /up to 48/ and Oleg Saitov /up to 69/ have reached the finals.
On Friday semifinal meets will be held in another six weight categories. On Sunday winners and prize-winners of the competitions will become known. Over 300 sportsmen participate in this championship, which is the elimination tournament for the right to take part in the Olympic Games in Athens this summer.
