KRASNOYARSK, February 27th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent Yelena Glushakova) - At his meeting with students of the Krasnoyarsk-based Siberian Technological University, Russian President Vladimir Putin has elaborated on the experiment to introduce a single state exam.

The experiment is aimed at legalizing the shadow turnover of the education process, said the president.

He recalled that some people pay for getting enrolled at universities. "We will let them pay the money legally," he said.

At the same time, the president noted, low-income families should also have the opportunity of getting education.

This is the goal of the single state exam experiment, said Vladimir Putin. He added that time would show how effective this experiment is going to be.

In reply to another student's question, the head of state highly assessed the Russian education system.

"There was a good basis," he said. In his words, education was one of the spheres where the USSR's planned economy invested huge money.

According to the president, the current education system in Russia should be flexible.
