ALMA-ATA, February 27, 2004. (RIA Novosti.) Acting prime minister of Russia Viktor Khristenko said that progress at the Russian-Belarussian talks on cooperation in fuel and energy complex was obvious.

"The problems [of Russia and Belarus] in the fuel and energy sphere were discussed practically every day and every hour. Consultations were conducted on a whole range of issues - supplies of gas, oil and oil products. Obvious progress has been achieved on many issues," Khristenko said in a conversation with journalists in Alma-Ata following the end of the session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council.

The problems of Russia and Belarus in the energy sphere, according to Khristenko, had no impact on the negotiating process within the EurAsEC framework.
