    MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti correspondent Olga Lipich) - The international conference, "Reformism in Russian Islam: History and Present" will be held at the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Oriental Studies on February 27.

    The purpose of the conference is to analyze history, reveal the content of Islamic reform in Russia, and consider today's reformist Islamic projects and evaluate their prospects, the institute staffers said.

    The experts will discuss, in particular, the internal evolution of Russian Islam during the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. They will also discuss the dogma, law and relations between power and Muslim communes.

    Russian and American researchers of Islam, public figures and representatives of the Muftis' Council of Russia, state structures and embassies will participate in the conference.

    The Kennan Institute and the Institute of Oriental Studies organized the conference.
