UZBEKISTAN BECOMES CAR EXPORTER

TASHKENT, February 26 ( RIA Novosti) - Uzbekistan plans to export to Afghanistan some 1,000 cars - 360 Nexias, over 400 Damas's and 155 Matizes.

The Uzbek national information agency reports with reference to the Uzautosanoat association that the UzDAEWOOauto company started deliveries of cars to Afghanistan in November 2003. The first batch contained 22 cars. Now it is planned to organize in large Afghan cities maintenance centers of Uzbek cars.

The total volume of export of the joint enterprise UzDAEWOOauto totaled in 2003 over 17,000 cars - it grew by almost 37% for a year.

This year, it is planned to export up to 27,000 cars, mainly Nexias and Matizes. Uzbek automobiles will also be delivered onto the Russian, Kazakh, Ukrainian, Tajik and Moldovan markets, said Uzautosanoat.
