TEHRAN, February 25, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Nikolai Terekhov) - Hasan Rohani, secretary of the Supreme Council of National Security of Iran, said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic is not obliged to report to the International Atomic Energy Agency on its research into nuclear energy.

"There was no need to report to the IAEA on the on-going research in creating the pi-2 centrifuge," Rohani said in the Teheran airport before leaving for India.

"Iran has no centrifuge of the type and its creation is at the research and designing stage," he said.

"Our specialists are conducting research on this and other projects. We have not reported to the IAEA on our research work and do not find this necessary," said the secretary of the Iranian Security Council.
