STATE DUMA SPEAKER AND UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT FOCUS THEIR MEETING ON INTER-PARLIAMENTARY COOPERATION

KIEV, February 25 (RIA Novosti) - Chairman of the Russian State Duma (Parliament's Lower House) Boris Gryzlov and Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma discussed in the course of their meeting in Kiev issues concerning the development of the Russo-Ukrainian inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Mr. Kuchma expressed his hope for the development of cooperation between the Ukrainian Supreme Rada (Parliament) and the new Russian State Duma, the Ukrainian President's press-service disclosed to RIA Novosti.

According to Mr. Kuchma, "the existence of the constitutional majority in the Parliament is a big plus, since its tasks coincide with the common strategy of the country and are aimed at the solution of the country's problems." The Ukrainian President noted on the high level of the bilateral relations between Ukraine and Russia and on the tendency of the trade turnover growth in the course of the last year.

Mr. Kuchma and Mr. Gryzlov also discussed the issue of the reformation of political system in Ukraine.
