While addressing a Gosstroi enlarged board session, Koshman reminded those present that within the framework of the goal set by the Russian president to double the GDP by 2010 the commissioned dwelling space should be increased to 80 million square meters by the same year.

To achieve this, it is necessary that five million square meters should be commissioned in 2005, and seven million square meters of housing space a year - in the period of 2007- 2010.

All this also will require the solution of a host of issues facing the building sector, the head of the State Committee on Construction and Housing said.
