KURGAN, February 25, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent) - An international conference on the problems of medical treatment and rehabilitation of prematurely born children in environmentally unsafe regions will be held in Kurgan (the South Ural area) on February 25-26.
As the press service of the Kurgan Region's government told RIA Novosti, the forum is to be held jointly with the American International Health Alliance.
The conference is organized within the Kurgan-Shchuchye-Appleton international partnership and is aimed at improving the demographic situation in environmentally unsafe regions, in particular the town of Shchuchye of the Kurgan Region where a chemical weapons depot is situated and a plant for utilizing such weapons is under construction.
Alongside the Kurgan medical specialists, physicians and nurses of the WI - Fox Valley children's hospital of the USA and specialists from Russian regions will also participate in the conference.
