MOSCOW, February 25, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The dismissal of the government changed Viktor Khristenko's plans and he will not go to Kazakhstan on Wednesday.

"Viktor Khristenko had to fly to Kazakhstan as Vice Premier on Wednesday, however, the plans have changed and on Thursday he will hold a cabinet meeting and then fly to Alma-Ata as acting Prime Minister to participate in the session of the EurAsEC prime ministers," a source in the Russian government told RIA Novosti.

"According to the law on state service, all vice premiers and ministers belong to Category A. In case of the prime minister's dismissal they become "acting" before the new cabinet if formed. The same concerns the secretariat. Titles of other officials, belonging to Category B, are not changed," the source said.

On Tuesday afternoon Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the cabinet of ministers. He signed a relevant order and appointed Viktor Khristenko acting Prime Minister.

On Tuesday evening Khristenko started performing his new duties.
