PARIS, February 24, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Andrey Nizamutdinov) - There are no plans in Russia to increase the income tax up to 17%, Russian Economic Development Minister German Gref said in Paris on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference after a meeting with representatives of France's business circles, the Russian minister noted there's a proposal "to introduce the insurance pension payment on wages of workers into the accumulation pension system with compensation mechanisms offered simultaneously." These mechanisms suppose that "2% is paid as part of income tax," as a result of which "its rate will total 11%, and not 13% as now."
