MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 24. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT NINO IOSEBADZE/ -- The presidential decision to dismiss the cabinet is right, Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov said in the Tuesday television programme Facing up Moscow.
There existed internal contradictions in the cabinet, Luzhkov said. And recalled that it was formed in "the pre-Putin period". In Luzhkov's opinion, "the new State Duma (the lower parliamentary chamber) with a strong centre is in need of a strong government".
Luzhkov believes that today's presidential decision will make it possible "to form a cabinet in the same vein as the State Duma". Luzhkov said that, to be objective it has to be recognised that "former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasianov has fulfilled all his functions in the state".
