KHABAROVSK, FEBRUARY 24. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT OLEG KULGIN/ -- The transport system of Russia's Far Eastern region offers good opportunities for world transit conveyance, Russian presidential envoy in the region Konstantin Pulikovski believes.

Local railways and non-freezing ports organically fit in the concept of arranging international multimodal transport routes, he told RIA Novosti in an interview.

Pulikovski has given priority to the rehabilitation of the Transkorean trunk railway and linking it to Russia's Transsiberian main railroad. This will give additional load to the Russian Far Eastern railway by container carriage from East Asia to Europe and back.

In the future it is also planned to connect Russian and Japanese railways, Vladimir Putin's envoy in the Eastern federal district said.
