MOSCOW, February 24th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - Acting Minister for Chechnya Stanislav Ilyasov has described Vladimir Putin's decision to dismiss the Russian government as correct and democratic.

"This is a completely correct and democratic approach because democratic principles envisage that the president should not only speak about his plans but also thought about the prospects of the government's work," Ilyasov told reporters.

"Before the presidential elections, voters will have time to think about and discuss the economic policy the president will stick to - this is an honest and fair approach," said the acting Minister for Chechnya.

The President dismissed the Russian government on Tuesday. Viktor Khristenko has been named acting Prime Minister.
