MOSCOW, February 24, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Vice-Premier Boris Aleshin and Education Minister Vladimir Filippov have learned about the dismissal of the Cabinet from reporters.

When the vice-premiers entered a conference hall, which will be the venue of a meeting of the State Council and Security Council boards, reporters surrounded them, asking what they thought of the dismissal and whether they expected to retained their positions in a new Cabinet.

"I have just learned about it. Nobody has told me about the planned dismissal, while I was busy preparing for the meeting," said Mr Aleshin.

Mr Filippov said he had learned the news from reporters and denied comments on his possible position in a new Cabinet.
