    GROZNY, February 24 (RIA Novosti) - Notorious warlord Khamzat Tazabyev, who headed a militants' gang, was among the militants destroyed during a special operation in Ingushetia (a republic neighboring on Chechnya).

    Tazabayev and three of his aides from his gang were eliminated while attempting to put up armed resistance, RIA Novosti was told in the Regional operative headquarters in charge of carrying out anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus on Tuesday.

    The special pin-point operation was carried out by the forces of the Federal Security Service Directorate for the Republic of Ingushetia in one of the villages of the Nazran district.

    According the headquarters' information, the Tazabayev's gang operated in Grozny. Its ringleader was known to be an aide of Shamil Basayev and the so-called amir of Grozny.

    Tazabayev was nicknamed Khamzat, Edik, and Abu Sabur,. His gang took part in the organizing and staging a number of terrorist acts using suicide bombers and heavy trucks with explosives.
