VLADIMIR PUTIN LAYS WREATH TO TOMB OF UNKNOWN SOLDIER

MOSCOW, February 23, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Oleg Osipov) - Russian President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath to the tomb of an Unknown Soldier in the Aleksandrovsky Garden at the Kremlin walls.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, Head of Presidential Administration Dmitry Medvedev, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov, Federation Council Speaker Sergey Mironov, State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov and other Parliament's deputies participated in the ceremony.

Vladimir Putin honored the remembrance of the dead soldiers with one minute of silence.

After the ceremony of the wreath laying the guard of honor squadron of the presidential regiment, representing all branches of the Russian Army, solemnly marched in front of the President.
