MOSCOW, February 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted an urgent draft constitutional law On the formation of a new Russian Federation member as a result of the unification of the Perm region and the Komi-Permyak autonomous area, to the State Duma, the presidential press service reported.
The unification of the two regions was supported by 89.77% of their residents at the December referendum. The joining of these historically, geographically and spiritually close regions was initiated by local residents. This will be the first unification of federation members in Russia's modern history.
