    MOSCOW, February 19, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has forwarded a telegram to his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Khatami, expressing condolences over the train crash, which took a heavy casualty toll.

    "With bitterness and pain I learned about the tragedy, which took the lives of so many people.

    Please, convey my deepest condolences to the victims, the government and the entire people of the friendly Iran," reads the president's telegram.
