WORLD RUSSIAN FORUM TO BE HELD IN WASHINGTON IN APRIL

MOSCOW, February 18, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Yelena Khromushkina) -- The World Russian Forum entitled "Russia-USA on the way to political, economic and military cooperation" will be held in Washington in April. On Wednesday Moscow hosted a meeting of the forum's organizing committee. According to President of the American University in Moscow Eduard Lozansky, Russian-US overall rapprochement is the main task of the forum.

The World Economic Forum has a 20-year tradition. It was established in 1981 on the initiative of the American University in Moscow, the former Andrei Sakharov's Institute involved in the protection of human rights, Lozansky told RIA Novosti.

In his words, the 2004 forum will mainly focus on the development of high and information technologies, mutual investments and cooperation in the scientific, educational and political spheres.

Russian well-known politicians, businessmen and scientists, including State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov, Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref and RAO UES Russia Chairman of the Board Anatoly Chubais are invited to participate in the forum.
