MOSCOW, February 16 (RIA Novosti) - Inappropriate building technology caused the Transvaal Park leisure center in Moscow's southwest to collapse, Martin Shakkum, head of the State Duma committee on industry, construction and high technologies, opined in a RIA Novosti interview on Monday.

An error in stability calculation was a cause of the accident, said Mr Shakkum.

He said it had not been correct to use heavy concrete beams for the construction of that type of buildings.

Concrete blocks above people's heads actually pose a mortal danger, said the MP.

This technology is used in the construction of many skyscrapers in Moscow, added Mr Shakkum.

"A minor quake will ruin this type of buildings," he said.

However, Mr Shakkum is positive construction companies will continue employing this technology as it is financially attractive.
