MOSCOW, February 16 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted the Treaty on the Russian-Ukrainian State Border to the State Duma (the Lower House of the Russian Parliament) for ratification. As the press service of the head of the state reported, the document was signed on January 28, 2003 in Kiev.

The Treaty between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Russian-Ukrainian State Border is a basic document determining the line of the state border between the two countries in its land section, including rivers and lakes, and also a principled approach in the solution of the problems connected with the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.

The line of the state border is fixed on geographical maps as a result of the joint work on delimiting the border carried out by the Russian and Ukrainian delimitation commissions.
