MOSCOW, February 13, 2004. /RIA Novosti correspondent/ - First deputy chairman of the State Duma security committee Mikhail Grishankov does not rule out that the murder of former acting president of Chechnya Zelimkhan Yandarviyev could be connected to his financial schemes.

"It is no secret that in recent years he lived in one of the Arab countries used by international terrorist organizations to accrue funds," the deputy emphasized. [Yandarbiyev was murdered in Qatar, and before had lived in the United Arab Emirates.] According to Grishankov, there were also numerous threats of "blood revenge" towards Yandarbieyv. He believes it is possible that these threats were carried out.

"Yandarbiyev was a criminal wanted both in Russia and internationally for committed crimes, including acts of terrorism," the Russian MP recalled.
