MOSCOW, February 13 (RIA Novosti correspondent Anna Bobina) - Israeli companies are interested in the expansion of investments in Russia, Israeli Vice Premier, Minister of Industry and Trade Ehud Olmert said at the opening ceremony of the Comverse company's office in Moscow.

"The opening of this office is a symbol of the development of Russian-Israeli economic cooperation. This is a good sign for many other companies to expand investments and their presence in Russia," Ehud Olmert said.

According to Russian Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Boris Antonyuk, Comverse is one of the world's largest telecommunications companies.

In his words, about 20 per cent of subscribers all over the world (220 million people) use its services. The expansion of Comverse activities in Russia will improve mobile communications in Russia, Antonyuk said.

The Israeli Vice Premier also met with Gazprom's head Alexei Miller during his visit to Moscow. "I believe we have big possibilities for cooperation with Russia, especially, with such major companies as Gazprom," Ehud Olmert said.
