PUTIN ACCUSES AUTHORITIES OF INABILITY TO ADEQUATELY ANSWER ATTEMPTS AT RUINING THE STATE IN 1990s
MOSCOW, February 12 (RIA Novosti) - President Putin said that in 1990s, centrifugal tendencies that had been growing in Russia for several years did not get an adequate answer on the part of the central authority.
Speaking before his authorized representatives in Moscow State University, Putin said these separatist sentiments were actively supported by international extremist organizations and in the long run turned into terrorism in the North Caucasus.
The talk is first of all about Chechnya. After the Khasavyurt agreements' signing, when fates and Chechnya itself were abandoned, and all Chechen people; some people might have thought that all the nightmare of the civil war ended. But it was not true, Putin said.
