MOSCOW, February 11, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia met at the negotiation table today. The summiteers determined to resume Georgian-Abkhaz settlement efforts, known as Sochi process, says Sergei Prikhodko, deputy chief of Kremlin staff.

"The two Presidents have ordered three related ad hoc teams to resume work on the issue as soon as possible. They expect spectacular progress forthcoming," he reassured the media.

Abkhazia is a self-proclaimed republic in Georgia. Understandings made on its problem in Sochi, Russian Black Sea coastal spa, concern tripartite power industrial partnership of Russia, Georgia and Abkhazia, rail traffic resumption, and refugees' opportunities to come back home. There is every chance to resume practical efforts for those goals quite soon, said the Kremlin functionary.
