MOSCOW, February 10 (RIA Novosti) - Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Oleg Morozov does not believe that the lower chamber of the Russian parliament will support the proposal to extend the president's term of office from the current 4 to 7 years. The corresponding bill "will be most probably turned down," the representative of the pro-presidential United Russia party told journalist on Monday.

The bill was initiated by the legislature of the Ivanovo region, Central Russia.

"There is no intrigue" around the motion, Morozov emphasized.

Head of the Duma committee for constitutional legislation and state building Vladimir Plizin also believes it unlikely that the chamber will pass the bill. According to him, the profile committee will discuss the initiative on Thursday.

"I for one believe that now is not the best time to adopt such a constitutional law," Plizin said.
