CHISINAU REVERES THE MEMORY OF ALEXANDER PUSHKIN

CHISINAU, February 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Vladimir Novosadyuk) - The Pushkin Days in memory of the great Russian poet have started in the Moldovan capital.

On Tuesday, a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of the poet who lived in Moldova three years will take place in the central park of Chisinau.

That same day, a requiem mass for the poet, killed in 1837, was administered in the Saint George Church.

The programme of the Pushkin Days, which will last till February 20, includes thematic lectures at educational establishments, exhibitions of paintings and graphic art depicting the poet, and literature and musical concerts.
