MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 10, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT SERGEI ZELENTSOV). Foreign minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan arrives on Tuesday in Russia with a working visit.

He will hold negotiations with Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov.

"The sides will discuss, above all, the overcoming of a crisis situation in the Middle East," spokesman for the Russian foreign ministry Alexander Yakovenko said on February 9. According to him, Russia and Jordan proceed from the need to realize, without delay, the roadmap plan of peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The foreign ministers will also exchange opinions on the situation in Iraq. Yakovenko said that the stands of Moscow and Amman on this problem practically coincide. "Our countries consistently come out for the restoration of sovereignty of Iraq as soon as possible and preservation of its territorial integrity," the foreign ministry's spokesman pointed out.

Igor Ivanov and Marwan Muasher will also consider the state and prospects of the further strengthening of friendly Russian-Jordanian relations.

"One of the most important tasks in this sphere is the intensification of trade and economic cooperation, and participation of Russian organisations in implementing the development projects on the territory of Jordan," Yakovenko emphasized.

Marwan Muasher will visit Moscow on February 10-12.
