WASHINGTON, February 9, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Arkady Orlov) - The temporary suspension of chicken imports from the state of Delaware introduced by the Russian government "will not have any considerable effect" on the total volume of poultry supplies by the US to Russia. This statement was made by Toby Moore, a spokesman for the US Poultry & Egg Export Council in the state of Georgia, reported.

The ban was issued after an outbreak of avian influenza in Delaware.

The farm to have revealed the contagious disease has been put under quarantine, the source of infection liquidated, Mr. Moore said. According to him, federal and local authorities inspected all other poultry farms throughout the state, revealing no cases of infection.
