GORKY MOTOR WORKS TO SUPPLY CIS WITH 40,000 CARS IN 2004

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, FEBRUARY 9, RIA NOVOSTI - The Gorky motor works (GAZ) plans to sell this year to the CIS confines not less than 40,000 automobiles of all modifications as against 36,000 last year, reports the GAZ press-service. The GAZ chief customers are Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and other former Soviet republics. Efforts have been made to widen the export of GAZ automobiles.

The GAZ works plans to sell to Eastern Europe-Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Rumania, Macedonia and Bulgaria-cars with diesel engines corresponding to Euro-3 ecological standards.

A dealer's network development and certifying Russian automobiles procedure are under way in these countries. Over 2,500 automobiles of different models have been ordered by dealers for 2004.

Besides, GAZ has been supplying cars to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, South Africa, Angola, Guinea, Uruguay and Ecuador. Under consideration are proposals on cooperation from more than 100 companies and organisations from 35 countries, added the press-service.
