    MOSCOW, February 9, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the Bioorganic Chemistry Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. On Monday it hosted the meeting of the presidential Council on science and high technologies.

    The head of state was shown Russia's only insulin-producing device. According to President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Osipov, the medicine has passed all clinical tests.

    Vladimir Putin saw other achievements of Russian scientists, such as bio-chip, a modern diagnostic means. Russian scientists believe that this chip will be a revolution in the 21st century diagnostics. This device works directly with DNA and is used for TB express-test. A limited number of bio-chips have been produced yet but it is marked out for brilliant future.
