A traditional February exhibition of hearts (valentines) opened today in the salon of famous Novgorod designer Elena Smirnova, Ms. Smirnova told RIA Novosti.
This year, the salon's designers prepared an unusual surprise for the amorous, valentines made from tropical seashells painted red, the designer said.
Visitors to the exhibition can also view traditional, "Russian national design" hearts made from various natural materials and textiles. The exhibition includes valentines made from elm, straw and hay; painted plaster and precious metals hearts; and glowing valentines.
The size of the valentines ranges from miniature exhibits to large hearts (50cm diameter).
The organizers of the exhibition noted that people of various ages and means will be able to find valentines for their loved ones.
The exhibit will end on February 14 - St. Valentine's Day.
