On Saturday, the Central Election Commission registered Ivan Rybkin as candidate to the post of the Russian president. This decision was based on the check of whether the procedure of Rybkin's self-nomination corresponded to the documents necessary for the registration of the candidates as well as of the authenticity of information contained in the signing lists. Out of 2.5 million signatures Rybkin gathered in his support, the Central Election Commission rejected 21 percent, although initially the point at issue was 26 percent. According to the law, this figure should not exceed 25 percent.
