MOSCOW, February 8, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Nikolai Makarov) - The Central Election Commission has registered Irina Hakamada federal presidential candidate after a thorough check of her nomination procedure compliance and of public signatures in her support.

A self-nominee, Miss Hakamada is out of job for her election campaign, the commission says in a statement.

Irina Hakamada has scored 2,458,000 signatures. A random 600,000 came through checks, of which 26,712, or 4.45 per cent, were invalidated or found dubious-a comparatively small portion, reports Ludmilla Demyanchenko of the commission. Be that as it may, she thinks the commission ought to report forged signatures to a prosecutor's office.

The commission made an unanimous vote to register Irina Hakamada and inform the prosecutor on her.
