MOSCOW, February 6, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The investigators consider two main versions of the explosion that happened this morning on the Zamoskvoretskaya line of the Moscow subway. It might have been both an act of terrorism and a spontaneous explosion, RIA Novosti was told in the Russian Interior Ministry.

"Experts do not rule out that one of the train's passengers could have been carrying a big amount of explosives - for example, powder," said a ministry representative.

In his words, it is too early to speak about what exactly exploded in the metro.

The Moscow police addressed everybody who was in the subway train and at the nearest stations asking them to give any information that can help investigate the incident to law enforcement bodies.
