MOSCOW, February 6, 2004. /RIA Novosti / - Russia does not hold negotiations with terrorists, it eradicates them, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at a press conference after his talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliyev.
The Russian leader described the terrorist attack in the subway as an ordeal for both the victims and the whole country.
"I do not rule out that the terrorist actions and the calls from abroad to hold negotiations with Maskhadov [leader of Chechen militants, the so-called president of Chechnya-Ichkeria] will be used in the domestic political debates during the presidential campaign and as a leverage to exercise pressure on the incumbent head of state," he said.
