RUSSIA TAKES ADDITIONAL SECURITY MEASURES

MOSCOW, February 6, 2004. /RIA Novosti/ - Following the terrorist attack in the Moscow subway, the Russian Interior Ministry is taking additional measures to ensure security.

"The number and density of police guards and patrols has been increased in large cities. Apart from this, protection of especially important objects has also been intensified," Deputy Interior Minister Sergei Shadrin told RIA Novosti.

According to him, additional measures were also taken in airports, subways of large cities, long-distance and suburban trains.

The State road police have been instructed to take additional measures to ensure security and to reinforce control over entrance to and departure from large cities, Shadrin said.
