MOSCOW, February 6, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent Aleksandra Chebanu) - Today's explosion in the Moscow underground undoubtedly has to do with the forthcoming presidential elections due in March and "has a Chechen trace," says famous Russian political scientist Vyacheslav Nikonov.

"It would be strange to suppose anything else," said the head of the non-governmental Unity in the Name of Russia fund.

According to Nikonov, he is not inclined to blame Russian special services for everything. "Unfortunately, it is very difficult to prevent a terrorist act. This could have happened in any country," said the scientist.

He did not agree with some of his colleagues that people are getting used to terrorist acts. "One cannot get used to this," said the Russian political scientist.
