MOSCOW, February 6, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - An explosion in the Moscow metro on Friday has worsened the situation in Russia before the presidential elections, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the vice-speaker of the State Duma, told journalist Friday morning.

Mr. Zhirinovsky supports strengthening street patrols.

Law enforcement agencies need to have more power to establish order, he said.
