PUTIN VISITS THE INTERNET PUBLIC CENTRE IN THE VILLAGE OF SHEMURSHA

SHEMURSHA VILLAGE (Chuvashia), February 5, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Before starting a conference on the development of the countryside in the building of the district administration, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Internet public centre which was opened there within the framework of the Electronic Russia federal targeted programme.

The centre's staff told the head of state what services they offer and that they are interested most of all in the agricultural products' prices. This information help them to choose the suppliers or the consumers of their products.

Several projects, which are now being discussed within the framework of the Electronic Russia programme, were shown to the President.

On his way to the building of the administration Vladimir Putin several times got out of the car to talk with the local residents.

Despite the 15-degree frost, the villagers spent several hours outside their houses, waiting for President's arrival. As soon as the head of the state appeared, the people joyfully greeted him. Vladimir Putin thrice approached the villagers, shook hands with some of them and wished them every happiness.
