"I am sure of my signatures," Mr. Glazyev told a press conference.
"According to our information, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has already verified the overwhelming majority of canvassing lists and the number of invalid signatures does not exceed 10-12%, which is not at odds with the law," he added.
He stressed that he would "defend the signatures collected in his support." "The voters who backed me are my associates," he said.
The CEC press service told RIA Novosti that they "do not have information about the progress of the verification process of the canvassing lists submitted to the CEC in Mr. Glazyev's support." On January 28, representatives of Mr. Glazyev's support group submitted 2,225,000 signatures to the CEC. On February 8 the CEC will examine the issue of his registration as a candidate for the presidential elections.
