Eight hundred specialists from Russia, the CIS, the Baltic states, Western Europe and the United States are expected take part in the congress, the Cardiostim organizing committee told RIA Novosti. During the three day conference about 200 reports and lectures on the entire spectrum of modern arrythmology will be delivered.
Special attention will be devoted to diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmia and cardiac conduction in children. According to the results of nationwide clinical examination made in 2002, the number of children suffering from cardiovascular diseases, including arrhythmia, increased by 150%. This statistics calls for developing more effective methods of disease prevention and early diagnosis and treatment of these ailments, the organizing committee said.
During the congress modern equipment for diagnosis and treatment will be displayed by leading Russian and foreign companies.
After the success of the 1st Congress of Cardiologists in 1993, the Association of European Pediatric Cardiologists decided to conduct such forums in St. Petersburg regularly.
